In need of help to make my VSF buildings look more inhabited.

I have recently been building up some Victorian-era buildings and am trying to find some suitable posters, pictures and shop signage and was wondering if any of you fine Ladies and Gentlemen would be kind enough to offer some advice or point me in the right direction.

I just want to give that more 'lived-in' feel to my buildings.

I just did a google image search for mine and shrank them down to size in paint and printed a montage of a whole A4 sheets worth. Should last for a good few years yet

Some shop signs can also be done in paint and then suitably dirtied once printed out.

Some streetlights and post boxes will help the street look less empty. Excellent terrain tho’, even without signage. Scratchbuilt?

Thanks.  I always find when I try to do them that they look a little fake.   I will give it another go though.

They are 3D printed.  I have street lights, good idea on the post boxes though.   Now to find some in 28mm scale.

Maybe small focus on the windows? Ghostly faces, curtains and like. Even laundry drying on poles.

I agree, especially curtains. You might also put a 'light in the window'. Not necessarily
actual electrics, but paint to suggest brightness. Yellow, either thinned or translucent
like Tamiya's, might do it. Also don't do every window.

You could go even further. Get an image of a Victorian oil lamp, paint it up & stick some
of them in various windows.

Curtains definitely help break up the uniformity. Painted and then re glazed if the models are solid but if not I've found masking tape adhered to the back, gives a nice net curtain effect. And folded and painted aluminium foil from baking trays cut into strips is handy for all kinds of stuff like curtains and drying washing.

Stains and a little rusting on the spouting helps towards a lived in look as does the occasional bit of flock or tufting stuck into gutters.

Thanks for those links and the excellent idea of masking tape for curtains. 
Also my apologies for the delayed reply, thanks shadowbeast for stepping in. Yeah the files are from a couple of different releases from Dark Realms.  They did a Victorian Range and a Laandan range.  I am hoping they expand on them in the future.

Those are some awesome looking buildings as they are but if you're looking for some tips on weathering, posters etc. I would recommend that you look at the work of my good friend KD47.  His most recent post is on the 2nd page of the Post Apocalyptic section and showcases a 28mm Orbit gas station.

Absolutely stunning buildings. Has anyone mentioned flower boxes yet? That would be a great way to add a little colour and cheer
