Thanks for the suggestion! I actually have the Maurice rule book- I bought the pdf back when it was released. In my head, I associate it with a period a bit earlier than the Seven Years War, but it is meant to cover right up to 1790.

I took the opportunity to take a few pictures of my Prussians.

First up, the vanguard - a unit of hussars, and a unit of jaegers skirmishing.

Next, some heavier cavalry - a unit of dragoons and a unit of kuriassiers.

And a picture of the whole force. As with the Austrians, I don’t yet have enough to make a field army, but they do make a reasonable contingent within a larger force. My usual gaming opponent also had some Prussians, so we have been able to put together forces for some of the smaller battles of the period. I plan to add units in increments over the next year or two, a few at a time.

Very nice!

I do love SYW in 10mm and have a good sized collection of Pendraken minis

I painted five houses this week to fill up some built up areas. Three are laser cut buildings from Warbases (with roofs added using textured plastic), and two are 3D prints from designs by Cromarty Forge.

Very nice buildings. Shame they don't also produce them in 15mm for use with my SYW forces. However they may be very useful for planned 10mm "War of the League of Augsburg" project.

Thanks SJWi, I am quite pleased with how they turned out. I find the Warbases kits easy to work with, by painting the components before assembly. They should work well for your 10mm project if you go ahead with it.

You’re right that having them available in 15mm would be a great addition to their product lines. I asked a while ago about the feasibility of resizing other kits (that was about shrinking 28mm to 20mm) and they said it isn’t straightforward because the connection tabs need to be adjusted to fit correctly with the MDF thickness.

I was skeptical about how the 3D prints would turn out. The print lines seemed very visible. I was happily surprised. With a coat of gesso for primer they painted up well. Washes don’t work well, though, as they show the print layers. Everything needs to be in regular acrylics.

Today I finished up a two-base unit of grenzers. The fellows in white and green are meant to be the Warasdiner Sankt-Georger regiment, and the lads in red and blue the Karlstader Ottochaner regiment. I opted to keep things simple and didn’t try to paint the fancier elements of either regiment’s uniforms.

Thanks Oshiro, Belisarius! The grenzers are fun units to paint, lots of colour.
