Last Action Heroes
« on: December 07, 2023, 05:19:36 PM »
Wasn't sure where this would in category wise so settled on this Other Adventures.

Last weekend we had the great pleasure of hosting Wiley Wargame Weekend. We normally host this in October for my birthday, but this year we did that for our Weird War Stories event.

This year's premiere game was Last Action Heroes. 32 of Hollywood's actions heroes sucked out of their movies to fight in a winner take all deathmatch ala Secret Wars.Eight players had to pick their teams from just looking at their VHS boxes just like the old days of video stores.

The goal was to take out all the other teams, earning an Oscar each time. They got bonuses if the camera crew was there. The rules were, of course, Fistful of Lead.

Each time they left a "set" they were randomly transported to another set. Keeping teams together would not be an option.

As usual, more at the blog: http://baronvonj.blogspot.com/2023/12/wiley-wargame-weekend-2023.html

I was inspired by an ooooold article in WI about running a lost in the woods Chevauche game. This is modernized and simplified, but could definitely be used for lost in the woods, or underground or tundra situation. Retreat from Moscow or lost in France after paratroop drop, etc. Lots of possibilities.

Incredible! Can we get photos (or list) of all the participating characters? Is that Kevin from Home Alone? Eleven?

What an awesome idea and execution! Kurt Russel is really present though!  :D

The cards/VHS-boxes really seal the deal though  :-*

and the frequent video renters card to keep track of who's been where. Tons more characters in the wings.
