Contrast Paint not contrasting?
« on: December 31, 2023, 04:25:44 PM »
I use Contrast Paints a lot now (and Speedpaints to a lesser extent) and have been really pleased with the results. But I picked up a couple of colours recently that do not give the same shading effect I've experienced with the other.
The colours in question are Nighthaunt Gloom and Magmadroth Flame.
Any thoughts, oh wise ones?

I’ve not used those two - but from what I have read some of the colours are just less ‘contrasty’ in use - which is annoying, as most of them are great.

That's my experience as well: some work perfectly, some less so. I quite often thin them anyways as they make great a great shading alternative to inks (of any brand).

I've got some contrast medium now, so I can have a go at thinning them down and seeing how that works.

I've used Nighthaunt Gloom ok, not noticed an issue with it.

I noticed Magmadroth Flame is essentially total coverage out of the pot. Not what I expected but still a useful vibrant color. I added a highlight instead of thinning. I will have to try that next time I use it.
