Anyone able to recommend a good table lamp for painting? (Cue jokes about it being better to use a brush!  lol )

Thinking maybe a daylight lamp or suchlike. The lighting in the room I paint in isn't great and I want to rejig my setup with better lighting being key.

Any suggestions welcomed

Ikea do an anglepoise that you can fit with a daylight bulb. We have one on each hobby table.

I also have a ring light with magnifier. This one is similar

I added this a second lamp to my setup - it gives good light to enhance a larger overhead style light, very much helps remove shadows

This is the one that most of the specialist collector/display figure painters seem to be switching over to. Most forums have review/"just bought" type posts about them.

I use the IKEA lamp as well with a bright daylight bulb. I have one mounted on each side of my desk and it gives me lots of flexibility for lighting.

I just have two relatively cheap LED desk lamps I got off Amazon.  One on each side, angled in toward the center so I get light from all the directions I need.

I bought this a few years ago. It has been excellent and I would highly recommend.

I have a pair of vintage ring magnifier Luxo lights that came out of a base drafting department. They’re awesome, and probably older than me!  lol

I’m sure there’s a modern equivalent available. I run one with a daylight bulb, and one with a cool bulb, and it seems to be a good mix of light.

My (daylight) lamp of choice, to enhance the lights I had previously installed above my desk (they were placed too far back and I was working on the shadow side of my minis... ::) ), is this one which I bought around two years ago now:

It's very reminiscent of the one that Iain R proposed actually.

Anglepoise with daylight bulb. I have another daylight lamp if I need extra light, but that is seldom

I use one like this as well and it’s doing great so far.

Daylight bulbs are rather inexpensive. I would try that in your existing fixtures before buying really expensive lamps.  I have an OTT Lamp I purchased during a 75% off sale at a closing craft store which is similar to the desk lamps but I rarely use that since I replaced all of overhead can lights in my office with daylight bulbs. Bonus is I can read far easier.

Thanks for the suggestions all - suspect combination of daylight bulbs and a basic additional lamp may do for a start. I like the overhead types and the ability to clamp onto table edge, but not sure the level of my painting deserves anything too fancy!  lol
