MS Society Fundraiser project.
« on: 10 January 2024, 04:05:57 PM »
Hello all,

Wyndehurst Productions here.

I recently received the following message on FB from another wargamer:

"Hello! I really enjoy your posts! I don’t hobby as much as I used to due to MS effecting my hands. I have some epic scale black power French Napoleonics. I don’t plan to ever get to them truthfully. I was wondering if I could donate them to you? I’d really prefer if they got used rather than collect dust like they have been. Thank you for your time."

His name is Cody Torok.

As you all know, I am a big advocate for how amazing this hobby community is. I was happy to take the miniatures from Cody but heart broken that he is not able to enjoy the hobby as much as he used to. He would like to see the miniatures painted and used, though there are over 2,250 in this epic scale army. The prospect of painting such a large army in a scale I have never done is intimidating. Though in truth it is nothing compared to the challenges Cody is facing in dealing with and overcoming the effects of MS.

I spoke with the Fightin Kentuckian who has a similar sized army epic scale Napoleonics in his pile of shame that he has been talking about working on. Together we came up with a plan to both motivate us to paint these armies and pay Cody's generosity forward.

For every $0.25 donated the the MS Society through this page we will paint 1 of the miniatures in the army. 1 base of epic scale infantry is made of of 20 miniatures, so a $5 donation pays for the whole unit to get painted. Between the two armies we should rias around $1,000. Think of it like sponsoring a charity runner for every mile they run, just for us it models painted.

What do you get out of it? Mostly just the good feeling for donating to a good cause. There is currently no cure for MS but funding research may help lead to one. The MS Society helps those effected by it as well.

Also, along they way, we will be posting lots of progress photos on our FB pages. Also every $200 milestone I'll try to put a painting tutorial video together for each of the unit types: Heavy Cav, Light Cav, Line Infantry, Skirmishers, and Artillery.

We hope you will consider donating and sponsoring us along this journey.

This is everything Cory donated to me.

So far I have painted up 160 line infantry in two Battalions. We have also passed the $200 donation milestone so I am putting together a painting tutorial video of how I have been painting these up quick and dirty.

So in just over a month we not only met the fundraising goal but even passed it! Couldn't be more amazed by everyone's generosity. I took about a 2 week break after painting 370 miniatures for this project. Its only a small portion of the total army and I did get 1 tutorial video made. The first video was on painting the line infantry quick and to a table top standard. The 2nd video is being edited now and is a tutorial for painting Skirmishers. I will also being doing videos on how to paint, artillary, command figures, light and heavy cavalry, and even casualty markers.
Here is the first video.

Here is everything painted up till now.
