Painting TTcombat Eastern empire scenics

Ciao,
I've some TTcombat scenics from their eastern empire range: https://ttcombat.com/collections/eastern-empires I would like to have some suggestion on how to paint them.
I usually 3d print mine (plastic and resin) and use the simple combination of primer/cheap acrylics.

I.e., how should I paint a scenics like that one that is basically "cardboard"?

I was thinking just to paint the roof, a first layer of vinyl glue to seal, than acrilicys for base and some layers of drybrush.

Or that one, it seems I have to use putty for corners and joints before painting, right?

I used mainly TTCombat for my 28mm. But I did end up adding a lot to them, including re-roofing them.  There is a bit of detail on the roofs, which you might lose with a coat of glue, but I've not tried it. You can cover the joins with strips cut from the spare card from the roof and detail sheets. Can't remember what I used as a basecoat for the buildings, cheap acrylic maybe?

Being a bit of a lazy bum I tend to skip filling and priming, especially if I'm mainly going for wood colours, but there's no harm in doing it anyway. I'm wary of suggesting vinyl glue as a primer for greyboard, which is pretty absorbent and could well deform unpredictably; I've found that two coats of thick-ish acrylic work just fine as long as you make sure you don't gum up the details, and then a watered-down coat of a darker colour followed by a lighter drybrush, or vice versa, produce a very acceptable result.

Filling, I would suggest it is a good idea. I have used Milliput and ready mixed wood filler, sanded back flat.

It does depend on the supposed material of the wall/roof.
If it is planks, you could add planks made from greyboard or cardboard.

I use Halfords Grey Spray primer to undercoat the whole model (if the material is supposed to be stone or brick I tend to use a textured spray - Plastikote Rust effect or one of the suede or concrete effects before undercoating).


Make sure you spray the inside and underside to seal the MDF - it can act as a sponge when it gets wet, swelling in an alarming manner.

Model railway suppliers can provide embossed plastic card to create walls and roofs.

Thank you all for the hints!

I'll use a kind of fine putty paste to fill gaps that is white than a light sepia wash. It's finer than the one I use for "adobe" and maybe leaving the "woods" natural tiwh some brown ink wask.
For the roofs I got the ones from 3dalienworlds (and other I found browsing) and I will print them again if the originals come out bad.

Nice work! That is definitely my favorite method of thatching.
