28mm Chinese Musicians?
« on: January 30, 2024, 09:02:10 AM »
Is anyone aware of any 28mm Chinese musician minis other than drummers?
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

I'm fairly sure I've seen some but I can't remember where. Eureka maybe?

The Foundry Ever Victorious Army command pack does have a trumpeter but I think that's it.
cheers

Rather depends on what period you want but Eureka produce the old John Jenkins Warring States line which has several musician figures.

Indeed, depends on the period.

Which period of Chinese history are you thinking of?

I am thinking mostly of 19th century or early 20th century.

In that case it would seem that the only things on the market would be buglers as part of command packs.

Foundry's EVA command can (partially) be used for some other later regular units:

Victorious Miniatures have Qing-regular command packs for their Boxer Rebellion range; make sure to get the 4-man and not 3-man packs!

I'm not otherwise aware of any 28mm Qing ranges, early or late period, with musicians included.

The newish Crusader Miniatures Boxer command packs both have trumpeter/bugler figures . Copplestone's Back of Beyond Chinese command pack also has a bugler but I guess this is more for say 1910 inwards and is in western-style uniform.

Ah yep, I'd overlooked the Crusader Miniatures range! As for the Copplestone range, you can still use them for very late Qing, i.e. post-1901 (I'm not 100% clear on when the fully Westernised uniform was introduced), but basically not pre-Boxer.
