Creature ideas for Outremer?

I've inherited a decent collection of Military Order and Muslim models from the Footsore Outremer KS: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hobbers/the-barons-war-4-outremer-the-crusader-states

These contain Military Order vs Muslim sides. I think I'd like to flex this into Dragon Rampant as I don't think I have enough models for full LR retinues. Plus, doing a fantasy version could be interesting.

Does anyone have any ideas for creatures that would tag along or work with the europeans or the muslims down in the middle east? Thanks!

Not a monster per se but Brother Vinni has this great Arabic officer on a magic carpet (I bought one to use as a wizard):

Not exactly Arabic, but in Greek mythology Lamia was originally a Libyan queen and there may also be a connection to the Mesopotamian Lamashtu.

These are great ideas. I’m loving that dude on the magic carpet. He could pair well with the reaper djinni.

I’m at a loss for the crusaders though. A griffon? Some fire wizard?

Some options:

Roc (there are specific models available but a giant eagle would cover it).

Plenty of sea monsters in both Arabic and European folklore

Anything serpent based would fit too

Apparently werehyenas are a thing, who knew, but a Gnoll miniature could pass for that?

A weird one that you would need to model yourself is the Al-mi’raj - A big, yellow rabbit with a black unicorn horn

We had a game some years ago, which started historical, late 12th century.
There were a few hyenas running in the plain (I don't remember where the hyenas miniatures come from) and at a moment some of them turned into fantasy ghoûls (ghoûls of Arabic folklore are spirits which can look like hyenas)...



...then the whole game turned fantasy and some time later the PCs arrived in a D&D-style underground labyrinth.

Crusaders would surely be appalled at the thought of needing any assistance beyond the True Cross. It may not be spectacular but its effect  on morale is off the scale.

My first thought, though I envisioned a simple covered cart, perhaps with a few brothers guarding a traveling reliquary.

Love the thought of anything scorpion.

I had collected some beautiful Reaper giant scorps, several wonky manscorpions from spare Dragon Strike games, and an AMT Gigantics 'Rampaging Scorpion '.

Never came to anything...
