15 mm Jousting Tournament - falcons and tents on page 2 (8/15/24)

Mellal, not only would I consider 3D printing, I have a bunch of pre-prints on the way for this - including a rather nice tilt yard which I hope to see arrive soon (there is a link to it in one of my posts above on page 1 of this thread).  I've also ordered a bunch of bits and pieces to use as scatter terrain and, especially, to enhance the various vendors feeding and otherwise pocketing the spectator crowd's coinage.

While I have no desire to own a 3D printer I currently have one in my possession, stored for a friend stuck in a small space while waiting for a larger unit to open up.  I hope to have him come over a few times to see if we can work with his printer to get some stuff I'd like.  I believe it is a FDM printer, from Creality.

Everything to the left of this photo I created a very long time ago using Sculpey.  Some of the stuff to the right are metal castings, mostly from Irregular miniatures. This dates back to when there was almost nothing like this available in 15 mm, better today but lots of room for improvement - the 3D world helping.  And, yes, those are cotton bales and that is a beehive oven. 



These items are a combination of purchased and some stuff 'found' during a large estate sale I was helping out with, mostly the partially painted stuff and the barrels.  Some of the square bases will get replaced with round bases.

I will have at least 16 sets of camp scene scatter terrain based around a cooking fire with something 'on the stove' so to speak.  And each scene will have at least one figure assigned though on individual bases to use in other ways - and to allow the scene to float between periods. 

Lots more to prep in the range of barrels, sacks, crates, etc.

All this sort of additions to a game just make it so much more enjoyable and memorable as far as I am concerned.

Here is a thought - with some challenges in getting enough of the right type of figure, have some - but I'm thinking to add some female contests to the whole tournament environment.   First thing that comes to mind is dancing (won't worry about figure poses - that would be off the edge of likelihood).  The goal would be to have something wives, girlfriends, daughters -- or just women gamers -- would enjoy doing and participating.

Of course, nothing precludes any woman/girl from running a knight in a jousting contest.  But for those women who don't want to fight, gives them a chance to join in.

Archery, certainly can be a second contest.  But what would be a good third?

Cooking contest?  Perhaps running. Horse racing.

Well, Ink, those are some ideas.  But I think I've come up with my third contest: Falconry. 

Now I need to check for some additional 15 mm figures that work with the Falconry theme, I think myminisfactiory has some figures - with one being a woman.  I have a few items I can use - though the falconers are not women - one man on horse, one foot with falcons and then two falcons on perches.  It's a start.

Rummaging through 'my stuff' I found some HO pre-painted birds of prey from Preiser that will round out my falcons - 7 of them to go with the two on perches in metal plus one with mounted man and one with man on foot.



Same bird from the back, that is a natural wood barrel in HO scale I stained with probably a bit too dark of a stain - hopefully a little dry brushing will improve the look.

More rummaging and I found 14 women, mostly from Battle Valor games for my lady contestants, just need two more plus my lady archers and that side of things will be set.



Tracked down all of my appropriate tents - with four more in transit from Dungeon Artifacts (big order that is taking a while to get to me).  This image shows the eight sets that will be the camps for the eight teams.





Two more images showing the four other tents I already have.  None of the tents are set in place yet.  Debating for now about whether or not I want to add a small tree to each base - after painting the tents of course.



More scatter terrain in process above.  Note the two figure to the left, see below.  And the figures to the right are part of the fourteen ladies.



I am going to have the figure on the left be my "Quasimodo" figure and the other as Esmerelda.  I don't care if the figure is supposed to be an "old witch", I think it works - even has the hunch on the back.  Both from Battle Valor.



Last image for today with more Battle Valor, a couple of Peter Pig items, and an Alternative Army figure.  The last named I will use with my Apothecary stand from Dungeon Torch (https://dungeontorch.com/products/miniature-apothecary?srsltid=AfmBOorfzVqkap1-0MswQnFyKhV2LMZ0Kdqx6fOCirUT_3DoCjhWYmOr).  The two on the left will be itinerant travelers perhaps.  Love the man kneeling in the stocks - have two more standing.  And the market cross.

Still holding off on painting - waiting on an order from Splintered Light for some additional figures and still need to prep a few already in situ, maybe arrive as soon as tomorrow.  Soon on the painting but I like the idea of having everything prepped so I can dive in "whole hog" and get to it.  (Hope I've identified the figures properly - had some of them for a while, feel free to correct if you know I am in error.)
