Ottoman Infantry

My latest blog post is on the start of my Ottoman army for the Khotyn 1621 campaign.  You can read about the approach I’m taking for the infantry, including a revised painting technique, here:

Really nice. The new painting technique is very successful. It's nice to see Janissaries other than in full dress uniform.

Thanks, Paul  :) .

I expect I will eventually have some fancy Janissaries, but I like the idea of having most in their rougher campaign dress.  :D

Yes. It also allows you to use some of the lovely 'Islamic' figures around, which I personally prefer to the figures available for Janissaries in full dress.

Quite inspirational. I've been thinking of early 17th century Poles and Ottomans ( plus Swedes), but will almost certainly go 10mm. What ruleset do you plan to use for the period?

Many thanks, Grumpy, SJWi and Sparrow 👍.

@SJWi - I mostly use Pike & Shotte (Warlord Games) as it is the set I remember best  :D .  I think some more tweaks will be needed for Ottomans - we’ll see after more games.  I also really like For King & Parliament, Twilight of Divine Right and The Warre Game. I’ve got lots of other sets that look interesting, but not played them yet  8) .

I am finding the Sweden, Poland, Ottoman, Muscovite, etc. conflicts absolutely fascinating, so I would heartily recommend it.  :)
