My Camerone project
« on: 29 February 2024, 04:24:28 AM »
I had an urge to play out a desperate last stand in a very confined space, and so I settled on the battle of Camerone, 1863. Here’s my version of Hacienda La Trinidad.
I’m slowly painting up the forces now. The plan is to go with Rebels & Patriots rules but with double the points. I’ll post some photos of the troops when I have enough of them finished.

Sounds like a good plan.

I like the model too. Look forward to seeing the figures and hearing more.

What is the footprint of the hacienda? I have some vague plans for this myself  ;)

It's built on 4 panels and it's 24" x 24" (about 60cm x 60cm). The panels as well as the main buildings are MDF and the other structures are made with foam sheets.

Excellent!  Thanks for posting this, Altius!  As someone with a near life-long interest in the battle, it's always great to see fellow gamers making it their own -- even more so if they create high quality versions of the Hacienda compound such as yours.  Like others have said above, I look forward to seeing this project progress.  There are still two months until the battle's 161st anniversary on April 30th.  You said you're, "slowly painting up the forces now," so it might not be feasible, but... have you considered trying to game it that day?

I’ve actually nearly finished with the legionnaires but I’ve got lots of Mexicans to paint. I’m going with a mostly limited palette with the so it should speed things along. April 30 does seem like an achievable goal.

Quite a lovely model.  And I like how you built it in four pieces, a lot easier to store.  You have a show piece in the making.

Excellent build. That will be a blast to play on. What rules do you plan to use?

And I like how you built it in four pieces, a lot easier to store.

The whole thing breaks down into four pieces and stores neatly into a single banker’s box. So much easier to store and to carry around.

What rules do you plan to use?

I’m going to try it with Rebels & Patriots. I’ll playtest it later this month and I’ll see how I like it.

Im basing the legionaires individually while the Mexicans are base with a mix of one or three to a stand. It’s a rather small action, maybe too small for BP. What other rules do you think might work?
