Nice find! A little out of my price range, I'm afraid.  Spanish, though? What were they up to in 1884, in Brazil ,that required a Nordenfelt?

How do people keep finding these weird items, like the Russian Maxim? What on earth is your search criteria?

I must be missing something. What is the Brazilian connection? The only reference I saw to South America was that the vendor aquired the gun in Buenos Aires in 2001.

As it happens I've seen other Nordenfeldts on display (presumably not this precise model) at the Museo de las Armas  in BsAs. If I remember corrctly there's another well as on the preserved Presidente Sarmiento that's moored at Puerto Madero, certainly a fine collection of the bigger 3pdr single barrel Nordenfeldts. They are both fantastic museums if you are ever in Argentina, well worth the visit. I was greatly saddened when my old laptop died I had a ton of photos from there on the hard drive. :-[

Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial

I was just assuming a connection because I couldn't think of any other reason as to how it ended up in Brazil.  I normally think of the Nordenfelt in terms of Naval Brigade actions in the Sudan and elsewhere in Africa.

Buenos Aires is the capital city of Argentina...

I'd buy one. It'd look good in the front garden.

Quite right! Now, where in blazes did I get Brazil from?  :?  It even says Argentina in the writeup! Must be the brain drain - my brain's draining! Too much tea and cookies!
