Britains marketplace realities?
« on: 16 March 2024, 09:05:24 PM »
I went to an estate sale today and there was an astonishing amount of Britains, both green box and red box, with much of it in literally mint condition.  Turns out I and another local gamer will work with the family in selling much of the stuff (they live many states away).  So, can anyone recommend best sites to understand realistic values and places to sell?

Material is located in California and very unlikely to do much - if any - international shipping.  Thus recommendations for selling need to start - and probably end - inside the United States.

Thanks!

The Hobby Bunker here in Wakefield Mass has long specialised in toy soldier sales and Britains.  The owner, Matt Murphy, is a key organiser in national toy soldier shows — definitely a good person to contact:

With such a big collection, he may even know the collector.

You might want to look at auction house options. There’s one near me (in the U.K.) who run periodic toy auctions. Many of the lots they put up sell to international buyers via the online platform they use. The upside is that the auction house do most of the hard work e.g. lotting up, photography, postage & packing. The downside is the sizeable sellers’ commission they charge.

The Treefrog Treaures Forum is a toy soldier collectors forum and would be worth posting on.  Also Treefrog themselves sell on a commission basis for collections.
