Grim Dark (15mm)
« on: March 30, 2024, 10:25:57 PM »
2024 is the year of Grim Dark.

I have really enjoyed playing One Page Rules' Grim Dark future games.  It is straight forward, fast, and enjoyable game system.  I have been surprised at how balanced the games are. With this enjoyment, the mega project for 2024 will be to expand to a full collection of Grim Dark armies.  This project will synergize heavily with my bug hunt project. All this in my chosen scale of 15mm.

This project will also involve Space Fleets and air games.

The plan is to build 4 armies.  We will have the Grim brothers.  A throw back to the first Grim Dark armies I painted 20 years ago.  There will be the Alien Hives, the bugs from my prior project.  The Orc Marauders will show up because any fighting seems to attract the boys!  Lastly, a Planetary Militia.

I am happy the announce the Grim Brothers are complete.  This has been the painting work over the last 3 months. There already are battle reports on my blog.

Please enjoy

Also Please let me know if it is helpful to update the title page when I post updates to this Project.

Thank you

Louie,  how many points you got there in Grim Brothers?

Last night, played 2000pts Dwarves vs HDF, dwarves won. Need some more games.

I went to the OPR army builder.  a real quick list build got me to to over 9K points.  I can probably hit 10K easily

Likely over kill, but they were fun to paint.

This was a real quick add on.   I have several hand crafted dungeon tiles that are very useful to represent "urban" areas.  To truly give the feel of ruined cities I found some free STL files and had a friend print them.  A very simple paint job of priming and dry brush gives me the look I wanted.

The boards represent ruined blocks.  A good LOS blocking terrain that is not too detailed but gives the right impression for Grim Dark.

Enjoy

Thank you

Nice work, as a fan of Epic I can only agree that the grim darkness of the future is best enjoyed in the smaller scales.

Great job! I’m not sure how I missed this thread before, but 15mm seems like a great choice for grim dark future gaming.

I always wanted a "grey" armored force.  I present to you the 196 Mechanized Brigade.  The grey camo is highly effective against my ash waste terrain.  They almost disappear on the board.  Thank goodness for thermal sights.

The vehicles are from Khurasan and the infantry are GZG NSL troopers.

Please enjoy

Those look great! The grey colour scheme gives them quite a menacing vibe. Ideal for ash wastes, as you point out, but also very appropriate for urban areas and pretty good for most environments, too. It’s easy to overlook a lump of grey.

A great post.
Good to see the Kmfp marines & the (can't remember who makes them) aliens as I have them both.
A question. At what size did you print the Apc & the Tank.
I forgot I had these also & was looking for suitable stl's 🤔

Thanks for sharing
