Photos of Warbands for CiC?
« on: November 23, 2009, 07:32:27 AM »
So I've been reading the rules for Chaos in Carpathia all weekend, and I have a decent collection of miniatures. I think I can accommodate for most miniatures, I'm still lacking in Thugs and Labor Gangs, and I'm not certain what a Blood Servant should look like. So I'm curious if anyone has photos of their warbands, or perhaps if there is a previous post I'm not seeing?

The game looks like a lot of fun, and easy to follow rules. The reason I bought Mordheim rules back in the day was for a game like this, but I think CIC is better because it's outside of the Warhammer world, and more to my taste with the Hammer Horror classic feel.

You can use any humans to represent a labour gang or thugs. Personally I use the Transylvanian Mob pack from Westwind.

I play the Blood Slaves as Accolyte Vampires, basically young Vampires that are not yet completely transformed and use girls from "Dracula and Concubines" pack from Westwind.

In the front Count Galrima with his sister Miscal (in black), his brother Torak in the back. Supported by his trusty servant (with torch) and the three sisters (accolyte vampires or bloodslaves if you like).
(That's westwind packs GH1 and GH5 and the servant is from a Transylvanian Mob pack.)
The warband also consists of a Cossack troup but this didn't fit into the picture.

Wow, those look great. I used to not care for West Wind miniatures a few years ago. I'm more of a fan of 28mm, especially Reaper. But looking on WW miniatures again, I like them, and I especially like the price. I'll have to order some :)

You have a really great looking warband of vampires!

West Wind can be a mixed bag at times quality wise.  The priced can't be beat though!

On the other hand.... I've been putting together some 25mm (possibly true) warbands together using some old Space 1889 figures for the hunters, and a vampire warband using Mega Minatures.  Both warbands ending up being $1 for each figure.

Thanks, glad you like them. The look of Westwind figs on the table is hard to beat. They usually have great poses and great characters at the cost of detail but they capture the spirit of the subject extremely well. Sometimes you find pretty odd looking figures in the packs but when painted they gain lots of character. Also the coaches are amongst the best multipart metal kits I've every build, always worth the money in my oppinion. Not to forget that a Gothic Horror range with around 400 different figures is more than one could dream of :).

Mike-
Do you have any other painted warbands that I could have a look at? They are really inspiring. Also, do you have a painting guide at all? It looks like you do maybe wet on wet blending, or just layer with lighter tones, rather than relying on drybrushing for tones of colors. I'd really like to try something like that, particularly with flesh tones and capes.

I paint layers from dark to light and use drybrushing for hair etc and weapons.
I'm working on a set of alternative warbands and scenarios as houserules for our group right now so the characters differ a bit from the original ones.

These are the main characters of my british hunters. The guy in the middle is the leader, on his right a hunter and his wife, on his left an expedition member (reliable man) and an old woodsman.

Here's Dr Frankenstein, working on the Monster. He accompanied by his fiancee, a servant and a hired gun who's guarding the lab. Monster is nearly finished. ;)

Dr Frankenstein and his creations, The Monster to his right. The others are monsterous creatures, cat crations (in the background) and dog creations (on the Doc's left hand side). Scary bunch.

Some villagers of the local town.

The already mentioned cosack guard

Spectacular work.  I have some of those models in the mail and I can't wait to paint some of them.
