We commenced the week with a visit to the site of the combat of the Thirty, one of the more known locations familiar to those who have an interest in the HYW and the Breton War of Succession.
First up a visit to the 19th century pyramid (column), the earlier 14th century, chapel of St Maud and the actual meeting place for the combat at the Fontaine of Saint Maud.
David and Vanessa at the column

Chapel of Saint Maud, three of the French Bretons were buried here on the edge of the battlefield.

Fountain of Saint Maud, a meeting place since the Gallic period for selling horses. This was the actual agreed location to meet for the combat, some 300m from the current column.

Chateau Josselin, the dukes of Rohan chateau, location of the French-Bretons, the French Bretons were commanded by Jean de Beaumanoir.
