Been working on and off on these for a month now, playing around with washes to get where I want to go and hopefully improving myself with every step. I'm really happy with my bases this time, I found the 747-27 Late Fall Moss pads incredibly useful and I will, as funds will alllow it next year, buy 2 big boxes of that to base the most of my European theater bases. The old school GW as used on the spotter base and other flock for grass might be cheaper but this method of application is much better to control and the result looks much better to me. The models serve no fucntional purpose other then scenic items for photography and to sprue up the battlefield, but I found it a bit far fetched to call them terrain so I put them in the Figures gallery. The cows are from AB Miniatures, paints from vallejo and GW and the tufts from Mininatur.

I did my best to make them as lifelike as possible, I even changed my blood palette to a darker, browner tone then usual (and no, I did not spend nights Googling blood spatter, I've seen enough of that thank you) so they might be a bit gruesome and maybe even tasteless. Sorry in advance if you feel that way, but I'm really proud of the way I have managed to bring them to life so to speak, most so in the bases and the life like skin of the cows.

They do look good, particularly where you've contrasted the 'wet' and 'dry' bits. Right BBQ time!

Vallejo Flat Red coated with GW Devlan Mud wash. Much simpler and quicker the my previous attempts, but better looking.

Sorry all to resurrect a topic without a proper license, but it seems I've missed this topic. They are excellent pieces to add some tang to a farm battlefield. One thing though, the cows with their legs sticking up and out like that. Looks much like you just tipped the figure and painted it where it fell .

Not really- give the Normandy photos showing dead cows a look. Expanding gases in the stomach cause the legs to end up sticking out like that.

One question- what scale and make are the cows?
