Clyde Barrow - free "Partizan" figure. Identifying details

Although I've been painting figures for 40 years (poorly but doggedly) I still have difficulty identifying details on miniatures. I often see a figure painted by someone else - an example is photos of the LAF prof figure posted on this group - and only then will I see that some bit of metal I've been wondering about is, in fact, a nicely detailed "something".

With the Clyde figure, I'm haveing problem identifying various lumps of metal on his shotgun. In fact, I'm not even sure if it is a shotgun. Can anyone help?

Can't help with that particular figure - not sure I've seen it - but in general...

I use an Optivisor.  (Cannot/would not prep, prime or paint without it.)
In the prepping stage I'm a bit of a perfectionist.  And the time taken makes me very familiar with the figure.
I use an Optivisor.
I prime black.  Matt enamel.  Then W&N Galleria Mars black, as this has a very slight sheen that helps me see details.

If none of the above helps, wash the figure with thinned black ink, take a macro photo and study that.

I dont think I've ever seen this figure but apparently the Barrow Gang used B.A.R's so maybe that's what he's holding.

Looks like a sawn off pump action shotgun to me. The only lump I have on my barrell is the pump slide and behind that is the metal body with spent cartridge slot running into a cut down handle/butt.

Yankeepedlar will know for sure as he can easily ask the sculptor

Shame, it would look mean holding a shortened B.A.R though wouldn't it. I think Barrow called it his 'scatter gun'.

Svenn - Excellent, that solves that. I wish I knew more about guns - I didn't even realise they had pump-action shotguns back then.

Now, I may be pushing my luck here but would anyone care to outline which bits are metal and which bits are wood? I know, I know - been wargaming for 40 years and doesn't know one end of a gun from another. Pathetic.

and if anyone has any spare recent Partizan figures I would love to take them / trade them off your hands - my son's birthday is 5th September so for the last few years I have had to take him and various friends out for his party -  and

Now, I may be pushing my luck here but would anyone care to outline which bits are metal and which bits are wood?.

Personally, I'd paint it all metal apart from the cut-off stock and the "grip/slide" part under the barrel.  (Even if not accurate, it breaks up the item nicely.  And I never let historical accuracy get in the way of a decent paintjob.)
