Looking for 28mm Sci-Fi/Pulp figure and vehicle suggestions!

Hi!

New to the site (and to wargaming and miniatures that aren't from the 'company that daren't speak its name'!  ) and I'm looking for some help with a new project. I should explain that I enjoy the 'fluff' aspect of the hobby almost as much as the modelling (painting is another thing altogether!  ) so if I tend to ramble on too much about the background please feel free to let me know.

I am looking for suggestions for miniatures and vehicles as well as a rules set for an organisation known as 'B.E.Ast' (Biologically Engineered Assault), a sub-division of the genetics department of the Humane Resourcing arm of 'The Company'. This is a near/alternative future organisation that makes huge financial gains from finding planets suitible for human habitation and selling them to both Earth-based and alien governments and organisation. The planet '23b-16' is currently being 're-launched' (Company-speak for being made fit for human habitation) by teams of human scientists and other elements of I-TEe (Information and Technology Encompassment enclave). The military element based on the planet is made up of 'B.E.Ast' units, bio-engineered animal/human hybrids. These chaps are the 'Company' work horses, often sent into hostile enviroments and situations due to their relative cost-effectiveness, though they are always backed up by heavily armoured robotic retrieval units (RRu's) due to the expensive nature of the equipment they are issued with.

Enough babbling! What I'm looking for is suggestions for minitures to use for these units. I have only one guy so far (no pics as he is unpainted!), the Hasslefree 'Stalks' with the alternate Rhino head. I am looking for ape/simian, feline, canine, and in particular a large bovine miniature to use as a heavy weapon specialist. Hope someone out there can aid and abet this madness... if any encouragment is offered I may even get as far as posting a picture or two (lack of painting skill permitting!).

For bovines fantasy minotaurs seem like a good place to start, available from various companies in various sizes. You may also want to have a look at EM4 Spacelords Phagon beastmen:

There are also some companies that produce humanoid apes (like in Planet Of The Apes), someone else may know what companies

Now what kind of vehicles are you looking for?

You may want to check out Dark Age games - in particular the Brood faction for genetically modified "base" figures.

Also if you don't mind the stigma of PPP D&D/Horrorclix/Heroclix may throw up a suitable figure or two.

Heroclix is a good suggestion, but check out Superfigs as well.

I think AT-43 do mecha-suited gorillas.

Cheers for the sugeestions guys! I'm thinking of some of the Old Crow range for the vehicles as they look like they could handle most newly discovered planetary surfaces.





They even supply some models in a 'hover' form, handy for the particularly impassable terrain! I've also found this fella...



... ideal I'm thinking for the heavy weapons specialist for my first B.E.Ast unit(a little less 'bovine' than I originally imagined though). Do any of you have this model? Could you give me some idea just how large he actually is? From the picture I reckon my Hasslefree 'rhino' guy could pass between his legs! Excellent!

I've got Ape-X, and he fits on a 1/5" base.

The Bryangles (triangles put there by Bryan at Reaper) on the side of the image are at 0.5" and 1" - that's becoming the standard image convention for Reaper figures.
