After hibernating for a decade or so, with a rather sizable lead pile boxed up in the basement and the only fruition coming from the effort to get the boys into historical wargaming was that one drifted into model building and the other one took up Wh40k, which i have no interest in, and I just dozed off, leaving the entire hobby behind as a "false start" but watching the occasional youtube video on the topic with a melancholic interest.
Last week I came up with a very cunning plan after having a look at Bolt Action with the Konflikt 47 addendum, so with a bit of honeyed tounge, i have racked up a bit of interest amongst the sons, and will have another go at it, adding plastics to the lead pile in the form of the "A gentlemans war" Bolt Action start set, as a base and also adding the FoV "Tobruk" start set for a bit of tank action along with a few books covering a diverse set of theaters in Bolt Action V2.
Having noted the ruckus surrounding the V3 of the Bolt Action rules, I'm not bothered by that, V2 will do nicely for up-start, in-house gameplay, also it didtn hurt that I got 30% off on the starter box and 50% off on the books.
The cunning plan is to get a crack at the Bolt Action ruleset, adding to that with Konflikt 47 in due time, and somewhat in parallel have a look at FoV, and try that on for size both for FoV and for a scaled down Bolt Action version.
Not sure how it is going to pan out, but its worth a punt I think.
Anyhow glad to be back.
