Finishing my Hinchliffe Indians ...Last unit of Indian Horse
« on: 11 September 2024, 07:29:54 PM »
.......which I started back in the '80s!   I have resolved to paint my way through my backlog of half-finished armies. I usually buy all of the troops that I need for an army either all at once or over a short period of time. I have been carting around thousands of 25/28mm ancients since the late '70s-early '80s. These figures will find few customers at flea-markets or Ebay so I might as well get around to painting them myself.  First on the list are my Ancient Indians. I have been faffing about avoiding painting my chariots for half a century it seems about time!

You can see the rest of the pics here:  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/08/25mm-hinchliffe-indian-chariots.html

Then some archers:  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/08/25mm-hinchliffe-ancient-indian-archers.html

Then some spearmen   https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/09/yet-more-hinchliffe-indian-soldiers.html

Then one last batch of archers:  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/09/the-last-of-indian-archers.html

Next up are some slingers and elephants to be followed by the Command chariots, wish me luck!

I bought a couple of incomplete 4 horse chariots, and on one the fourth horse wasn't Hinchcliffe. Anyway, there were no yolks for them and I had to fashion them from wire. It works. I love the chariots though.

Lovely work.
I have always had a soft spot for Hinchcliffe (& Garrison) as they provided most of my early armies,
that was when my pocket money started to stretch towards metal, & away from Airfix Plastic.

At the moment I am picking up figures from eBay for some Hinchcliffe DBA armies. First on my
wants list is New Kingdom Egyptian.

Good luck with your Indians.

Someone egged you on to finish them, right?
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Well, at least he got cracking on them.  :D
He had to though, as they weren't all 'white' to start with. ;D
Am I over egging this?  lol

I do exactly the same.  Not sure the method is always good for the mental health!  ;)

Your Indians look great Anton and very colourful.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I finished them around 8 weeks ago. The worst thing, besides the yolks, were the fragile axles. Two broke on one model.
My classical Indians are MiniFigs, the 2 & 4 horse chariots, Hinchcliffe

has.been    I think that I have a pack or two of Pharaoh's chariot if you would like it. I don't have any other Egyptians so I really don't have any use for it

A quotation from Schiller comes to mind.

That is very kind.
Where abouts are you?
I am in the UK.
If not other sides of the Pond we could swap some Hinchcliffe figures. I have Pikemen & other figures.

has.been,  I'm in the States but I would be happy to send them to you on the promise that you will donate the shipping costs to your local Veterans Asssociation. I will never get around to gathering and painting an Egyptian army so they are surplus to me and I have simply thousands of other minis in need of paint so a trade would simply add to the Lead Mountain. If you are interested contact by PM or by email at daftrica 89 at yahoo dot com with "Chariots" in the title

After digging through my Mountain of Shame I find that I have three Pharaoh's chariots and four more chariots without horses of crew. You are welcome to the lot.

The minis are on their way, USPS says that it will take two weeks. Take that for what you may, probably closer to three.
