Books on Wagons/Logistics Napoleonic Wars?
« on: November 07, 2024, 01:29:38 PM »
While I can find plenty of info on British & French wagons, aside from an 80's book by Haythornthwaite, can find little on wagons used by other nations (particularly Russia, Prussia, smaller German states, etc.). Has there ever been a book published with drawings or diagrams of the wagons used by various states? Even in another language would be useful.

Being ad hoc vehicles procured from the general population, Wellington always complained about his allies ability to provide enough in the Peninsula.  I don’t think there is a “standard” model that would merit the same level of documentation as say artillery limbers or ambulances.

Quarrie’s ‘Napoleonic Campaigns in Miniature’ has a lot of useful information on these matters. Hinchliffe Miniatures had an extensive range of carts and wagons in metal, at 25/28mm. I had my 18th century ‘fougons’ in resin from a nice chap in Scotland who advertised on eBay. It was a while ago, though.
