Gangster rules?
« on: 01 December 2009, 11:18:09 PM »
Does anyone know any rules for gangster wars during the Prohibition era?

This lovely forum makes me start more projects than I got time for!  :?
Current projects:
A Fistful of Kung Fu

You could try .45 Adventures by rattrap productions. We've used it for alot of pulp games, but it also lends itself very well to gangster style games...

Excellent little system.

Cheers

There's a gangster supplement for 2HW's Chain Reaction 3, both free.

EDIT - you can download CR3 from here:

http://www.angelfire.com/az3/twohourwargames/free.html

but you'll have to join the 2HW Yahoo group to download the gangster supplement. There's also a CR2 demo called "Babyface & Me", designed as an intro to CR2 in the Yahoo group files.

No need to join the Yahoo Group if you don't want to. You can also get CR3 from WargameVault here:

http://www.wargamevault.com/product_info.php?products_id=60015&filters=0_0_0&manufacturers_id=2562

and the "Gangsters" supplement here:

http://www.wargamevault.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=2562&products_id=63326&filters=0_0_0&manufacturers_id=2562

Both free and instantaneously downloadable after ordering  :D

Incidentally, Two Hour Wargames rules are also fully solo-playable, so you can try these out by yourself and hopefully have a great time before involving your buddies.

I used battleground WWII in the past and frontline command would work too.

I was also wondering what a good gangster rulesystem could be, but I am more looking for a Yakuza kind of game where different clans fight between each other.
The recent threads about the beautiful Yakuza miniatures have me convinced  ;)

I have used the Legends of the old west games, with some modifications for tommyguns etc.  As we often play large multiplyayer games (5-10 players), we use a modified version of the activation rules from "Gunfight" from flagship games.
