15mm voodoo style Africans/Caribbs?
« on: 03 December 2024, 08:24:21 PM »
Only having partial luck finding proxies.

Plenty in 28mm (old glory, Brigade, DnD Chultan zombies)  but really want simple, machete or such welding voodoo/cult types.

Any ideas?

BTW, the peter Pigs are too small, gotta be somewhat ok besides blue moon 15s

Can you show us an image of what you are after - might make it easier to recommend.

But first thought is QRF pack meant for Australian aborigines, might be a reasonable conversion option (forget the name).

Also, perhaps something from Irregular Miniatures - again, it would be a conversion of some sort.

And I'm guessing the Rebelminis zombies are too modern for your purposes?

Conversion can be as simple as how you paint the figure.

Only has necromancers, but Splintered Light has this pack: https://www.splinteredlightminis.com/hune.html
(and undead versions in another pack)

Irregular does have a lot of packs of Africans, but none with machetes or the like.  The old East Riding Miniatures pirates range might have had some though, but I have no idea if it landed anywhere after ERM shut down.

I believe East Front Miniatures now sell the old ERM ranges.

Thanks guys, think "Call of Cthulhu" original story, when the authorities rounded up crazed African folk who started meeting up at bonfires in the woods around obelisk.   (OG "voodoo Africans" in 28mm is the look!)

I did get some Friekorps "African Townsfolk", they are very close, but they are actually Civil War era slaves, in kinda patronizing poses: "playing banjo, soft shoe dancing, carrying large bales of....something, etc.

The OG 28s AND BRIGADE 28 "Haitian Zombies" are perfect, IF THEY were 28mm.

BTW, the Blue Moon zombies are really easy to turn into hybrids.  I JUST PUT PVA/WATER TISSUE PAPER CLOAKS AND HOODS ON EM, AND THEY LOOK GREAT!

Oi!  The mention of PVA and tissue reminds me of something I've used before and will yield a simple solution to do some 'gender changes' on dead figures to turn men to women!  lol. Very hard to find dead women but easy to convert with PVA/tissue.  So, Big Thanks for the reminder.
