So I've been spending some time fiddling around with old rules, and as part of that I have also been spending time in medieval Wales, a place I just sort of ended up in around 20 years ago or more when still a player of Terry Gore's "Medieval Warfare" rules.
I have documented two outings starting with source material [especially Paul M. Remfry's work] and taking it all the way to the playtesting of scenarios to the actual scenario play.

https://darkages40and25.blogspot.com/2023/08/history-to-table-scenario-creation.htmlTo execute the games, I used some well-known resources like "One-Hour Wargames", and a streamlined version of "Chainmail, 3e" [which I downloaded free on a lark, and have now become a fan of my version!].
I look forward to more outings in Wales, likely with other rule sets like Midgard [I had the pleasure of diving deep into "Mead Price" from Slingshot a few issues back].
I hope that seeing my process to take a game from history to table provokes some fresh ideas and suggestions!
Meanwhile, I hope holiday preparations are going well for you. Remember the reason for the season...
