Good grief.

That explains the not quite Kubelwagons I have seen. I thought they were some weird kit car.
Yeah, I used to see them a lot when I was a kid.  We'd watch the Saturday war film on the telly, typically featuring columns of Kubelwagens, and then a column of 'Kubelwagens' would drive down our street and we'd think the Germans were invading...  lol

Oh no … they are indeed a “thing”. Last one I saw was in a storage space, like new condition; dude wanted over $10,000 for it. That was like a decade ago. Can’t imagine one being less than double that now.

Collecting/ restoring classic cars is cool, but it’s the kind of hobby that makes tabletop wargaming seem frugal by comparison…

No kidding. I have an older motorcycle. It’s like owning a burn barrel for money.

Now imagine the WW2 re-enactor that also collects WW2 vehicles and it goes to a whole other level.

How easy it is to create a campaign using comments from this forum; here's a German soldier ready to be kidnapped...soon.

Hmm.  I reckon there'll be a rescue attempt.  But by whom?  SAS?  GSG9 (an 80s version - sort of - of The Eagle Has Landed...)?

Nah, they'll just send Constable Williams from Pontypandy. If they are lucky, Frank Burnside will be on his holidays  in Wales, recognise the terrorists as obvious scrotes and nick 'em just for shits and giggles. I can't see Morse getting involved. :)

South Pembrokeshire's Finest then included PC 'Mad' Max Bevan, who (in addition to arresting his own mum for careless driving), once tried to arrest an RAF C-130 full of SAS who had landed on his patch without first seeking his approval...

'Tis a silly place...  lol

Rivals the efforts of a certain female major, whose response to the sight of several dozen pissed up soldiers doing mortal combat in the lines was to rather feebly announce that the military police had been summoned and that she was invoking the 'Riot Act'. A moment forever suffused with bathos. Career highlight.  lol
