Can Clovis beat Syagrius?

Following on the previous last stand of Rome games where Clovis was thrashed each time, I tried a couple of solo games using my VASSAL module to see if the Franks could come up with a winning formula against the Romans, who had excellent missile capability and the peerless legions. The first game was a disaster for the Franks but I cracked it in the second.
