What Happened So Far!

“After the successful handover of one million by an unknown superpower, President Monteverde was quite inclined to accept development funds amounting to 10 million and propose the next budget to parliament. In his wisdom, he decided it would be fraternally just to allocate the same amount of 1 million to each of the representatives of the six other powerful families of Aruma, while transferring any surpluses for the benefit of the people to his private account.”

The Seven Powerful Families of Aruma
General Torrealba (23 votes) is the commander of the first army brigade and currently the most powerful man in the state. He enjoys the political support of Christian Democrats, students, university professors, farmers, and conservatives. Even before the first election round, he publicly stated that his special role in the state would necessitate special financial support.
General Zaragoza (15 votes) is the commander of the second army brigade and currently the second most powerful man in the state. He relies on the political backing of trade unions, monarchists, retired generals, and, notably, the votes of the dead. He is also rumored to have strong ties to underworld circles capable of providing assassins.
General Lopez de Vega (9 votes) commands the third army brigade and bases his political ambitions on the support of socialists and radicals. He, too, is said to have underworld connections capable of arranging assassinations.
General Castellano (13 votes), commander of the air force, garners support from bankers. A shrewd political tactician, he knows how to influence political events through rumors of electoral fraud, sudden power outages during vote counts, and alternative budget proposals.
Admiral Villanueva (1 vote), head of the navy, seems to lack significant political support but appears to have good connections to the unknown superpower—evident from the secret financial backing of 2 million. Villanueva is reportedly in talks with other major families of Aruma to provoke a political alliance shift.
Minister of Internal Security Del Rio (1 vote) also lacks significant political backing but enjoys financial support from the mysterious superpower. He is rumored to have a vast espionage network capable of accessing Swiss bank accounts and quick to eliminate political adversaries through secret police assassinations.
President Monteverde (13 votes) is a seasoned politician who relies on the support of the Church and Marxist-Leninists. He is also adept at influencing politically unfavorable votes by ordering recounts of election results.

The Parliamentary Session
Read more in El Centinela:
“After President Monteverde ceremoniously opened the monthly parliamentary session and adequately praised his own achievements in a brief three-hour speech, the announcement of the funds’ distribution led to somewhat tumultuous scenes, particularly from General Torrealba’s faction, which demanded a second election round. This was, however, prevented by a surprising power outage in parliament (General Castellano).
Calls for an alternative budget proposal (General Castellano) also went unheard, as President Monteverde, by candlelight, ordered a recount of votes, which resulted in a surprisingly large majority for his budget plan. This outcome was generally accepted after Minister Del Rio had the parliament occupied by his police for the safety of all attendees.”
What Happened Next…
General Zaragoza hires a psychotic assassin to target General Torrealba, but the assassin waits at the wrong location, and nothing happens.
General Zaragoza then hires a professional assassin, but the financial demands prove too high.
General Lopez de Vega deploys paparazzi to target General Torrealba, but Torrealba strictly avoids being seen with his girlfriend. However, burglars hired by Lopez de Vega manage to steal all of Torrealba’s bribe money. A foreign assassin hired by Lopez de Vega also fails to get close to General Torrealba.
Surprisingly, Admiral Villanueva agitates not against General Torrealba but against President Monteverde, forcing the Marxist-Leninist faction to withdraw their political alliance with the president.
Minister Del Rio has the secret police conduct an assassination attempt on General Torrealba.

“Although the secret police summoned after the burglary at General Torrealba’s residence failed to catch the burglars in the act, the regrettable death of the beloved general was reported at his nightclub. His political supporters subsequently declared their political neutrality. The Torrealba family is now called upon to select a worthy successor to the late General Torrealba from among their ranks.”
