Rhodesian War 28mm ZANLA and special forces?
« on: 27 January 2025, 10:20:28 AM »
Hello!

Firstly I am well aware of the excellent Eureka and Under Fire miniatures offerings, but I am going demented searching the net for a range of Zimbabwe bush war minis in 28mm i am 100% positive i have seen on a website over the past four-five years (took hobby up again in 2020!).

Ialso think but maybe mistaken they were by Paul Hicks, but cannot find anything on tinternet to confirm this.

The website was definately one of these more tucked away figure companies that do not auto pop up on google but i cannot find anywhere!

Any help much appreciated :)

The only Paul Hicks modern Africans I can think of are the never properly released Mongrel Miniatures Simbas with AKs?
Badger Games owns the range but I don't think they released them.

Chibos little dudes did Rhodesian Bush War, but they were wiffwaff sculpts

I think it must have been Under Fire miniatures - though i am sure there were more than two ZANLA packs and they had some guy holding a flag of sorts. Oh well I will probably get some of the Under Fire stuff, looks like theyll mix okay with my Empress/Spectre minis :)

The Underfire chaps are a bit taller than Eureka. Nothing outside of the realm of standard human variation but taller none the less. Nothing that a bit of artifice in basing won't hide, if it's a problem for you.

Thanks - probably will not bother me, but they must be bloody tall as my Empress slightly tower over my Eureka dudes, not by alot though.

There are these (Militia Miniatures via Pendraken).

Two packs plus a leader figure.
Not sure how African they are.

The Underfire Miniatures are 32mm. The Ultramodern and Cold War figures from Empress are by the same sculptor. The Vietnam and WW2 ranges are by Paul Hicks and pretty much the same height as Eureka.

If you have the Empress moderns you pretty much know the size differences already.

The mercenaries are available at Badger, great sculpts by Hicks:

I managed, with some difficulty on the manufacturers part, to obtain a number of miniatures from Mike Bravo Miniatures:

Not sure what happened with them?

So no chance of them resurfacing… :(

Shame as I could do with 2 more sections of British. I have most of them laying around unpainted awaiting reinforcements…
