New Fantasy Sets by Wargames Atlantic
« on: 07 February 2025, 10:18:56 PM »
A (at least for me) surprising release by Wargames Atlantic, two new sets, one for Fantasy Townguards, one for Villagers.

They look really lovely. At least the villager set is something for me to get for sure, at the guard set I am more interested at all the bits but the bodies. Those guard will surely fit into some Warhammer setting too. Sometimes a positive surprise what they are producing  :-*

They’re the plastics for the new Grey for Now Games’ game Guards of Traitors Toll. I was tempted by the preorder just for the plastic sets. Thank you for the link I was interested in how the sprues would look; the guards look good, the villager sprues aren’t the clearest image but I’m hopeful.

Ah, I saw the thread about the game, yes. I was already wondering why they felt so familiar to me, some days my brain is just refusing to make the connections  lol

Yep, these could be the most successful "generic" minis for a ton of games - including D&D, etc. for those willing to build/paint, etc.

I was seriously sick last week, so I pre-ordered the game set (also, friends intend to play it, so...). Verymuch looking forward to these kits.

Indeed. I think that WA are at their strongest when they do what plastic works for: generic stuff everybody needs. These should also go great with all sorts of North Star's kits. And everything else really. I hate the term "golden age" to describe the state of wargaming, because it couldn't be further from the truth, but I'll say that currently we're pretty spoilt with very good fantasy plastic kits.

These are great looking figures.

Didn’t WA just announce a different set of medieval peasants too?

They did. It’s part of their medieval offerings aimed at Barons War and similar games. It’s kind of a feudal levy set - not sure if it includes any non-combat equipment options (although those would be fairly easy to kitbash).

Yeah, the Baron's War line is Foot Knights, Foot Serjeants, and armed Peasants.  Nice kits.

Similarly Victrix is putting out some absolutely gorgeous Crusader-era kits.

The town guards look fairly typical of a lot of medieval fantasy (looks like a blend of 14th to 16th century clothes, arms and armour). But the villagers look a bit different, several of them look more victorian than medieval.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Surely there's enough options in there to get rid of that look too, if one elects so. :)

it's a Pratchett blend, it really started to seep in with the Discworld adaptations.
