I didn’t watch the Super Bowl yesterday (not a football fan) so instead I decided to play a solo session of Fights of Fantasy. The format I used was an annihilation scenario between ManKine (Minotaur) warriors and members of The Church Militant (Humans). One faction had two units with no characters while the other had two units with one character (of combined magic and melee class). Aside from the character, both forces consisted of elite melee class combatants. Both sides had a total value of just under 1500 worth.
Notable occurrences during the five turn game was a failed attempt at a heresy spell to turn one unit of ManKine against the other and a successful henchman spell which summoned a pair of Winged Watchers (Gargoyles). The aerial creatures dispatched two of their bovine opponents, largely due to having four attacks each and drawing low numbered marshaling tilers at the right moments.
In the end, The Church Militant triumphed, tenderizing their beefy foes with their enhanced maces and hammers but losing half their force in the process. Enhanced armor, shields, and weaponry coupled with the ability to swarm their enemies ultimately carried the day. While the ManKine had two attacks each, they didn’t roll well enough in the final turns to overcome the wounds they suffered from being mobbed by fanatical war priests. They even had limited missile capability in the form of hurled rocks which dispatched two clerics.
The total time for the game was under two hours. Here are some pictures from the battle.
