ECW project -siege of Lyme Regis ( buildings added)
« on: February 11, 2025, 07:26:02 PM »
So, this was not on the radar at the start of the year. After reading a book on the civil war in Dorset I thought it would be good to do some large skirmishes set around this. So a couple of orders to Bloody Miniatures and an order to oshiro was made. First 4 figures painted up alongside some buildings I already have. This will be a long project that I'm hoping to document on here to help the motivation

A very nice sounding project. I visited Lyme Regis a few years ago as part of my planned "Monmouth Rebellion" project, but could find virtually no reference to the events of 1685. I then dropped 1685 and now have a larger "Williamite Wars" project underway. I also game the ECW and find the plethora of local histories and small battle absolutely fascinating. I'll keep a watch on this with interest.

Project that I'm going to be interested in, perhaps you could tell us about some of the little battles that are in your book.  ;)

Test paint for the Roundheads. This project is a bit of. Slow burner but will try and keep the updates regular.

Nice work on what sounds like a great project

Thank you for the kind comments and interest. I'll try and get some more figures painted then start planning a board. Need to do some more research on the fortifications of Lyme as there appears to be different reports on there being just trenches with forts to other mentions of blockhouses and earthen walls. Might have to be a bit of a make it up as I go.

I really like how you’ve done the flesh on these Roundheads. How did you do it?
I have nothing important to say so just keep on scrolling.

I have given up on this project. 😁
I have been working on some buildings for Lyme, need to add some more over the next few months. Thinking of doing some burnt out / destroyed buildings to add to the town, these may have to be MDF ones with plenty of scatter. Last month was another purchase for figures from Bloody miniatures so have plenty to be getting on with there. The buildings will also be used with my Monmouth Rebellion stuff.

Army painter tanned flesh, wash with GW fleshshade. Then tanned flesh again, 50/50 tanned flesh and Barbarian flesh and finally small highlights of barbarian flesh
