My First Explorer (sculpt)
« on: December 06, 2009, 01:34:06 PM »
Hi,
I've been having a crack at sculpting my own minis lately and this is third completed so far (the other two were me and my mate as zombies):

I used a wargames factory martini-henry as my attempts at sculpting guns haven't turned out so well.
There are a lot of things i don't quite like about it and should have done differently, but overall i am pretty happy with it, and everything is just practice towards my next one.

Any feedback or advice would be great.

Thanks for looking.

Sam

I have seen much worse offered for sale. Its a bit of a cliche but very true - practice makes perfect and you are definately off to a good start.

Agreed. I look forward to future projects. They're only going to get better!

Number 2

Pretty happy with this one too, I tried to give him an Allan Quatermain type head but after a few failed attempts i decided just to get him finished and stuck a wargames factory one on him

Another good job. Far better than my first attempts :'(

Heads are obviously tricky. Comes back to that practice thing again.

Have you seen any tutorials online? such as the one on the Musketeer Miniatures website where Bill shows how he made a pirate

Ah! Thanks!
I'd seen it on Steve Dean's forum before and actually tried looking for it recently

Ive downloaded all the tutorials i could find as well youtube videos and such, but practice (and lots of it) is definitely the trick to getting better

Thanks again
Sam
