15 (or 18) mm female swashbucklers (not pirates!)?
« on: February 20, 2025, 06:53:34 AM »
Looking to add a few women swashbucklers to my Three Musketeers set up so hunting about for suitable figures.  Closest I know of are a pack of female pirates from Rebel Miniatures but that is not what I am looking for.  Also not sure Battle Valor miniatures will work.  And, no, I don't want to just paint a male figure and call it a woman nor do I believe I can successfully modify figures.

So, anyone know of 15 mm female swashbucklers out there (not small 15 mm, need to work with Blue Moon so larger 15 mm, please)?  Okay if from the fantasy realm if not over the top on the fantasy bits (spikey things sticking out sort of weirdness).  Prefer metal but will go with resin if that is all there is out there.  But no printer so must be a pre-print if resin.

And please note, I already have the female figures from Bluemoon's Musketeer range and more from their ECW civilians.  Love those and would be glad to find more.

But I want some period suitable 'warrior' women swashbuckling - and real history be damned!  lol

Thanks for any help.

Splintered Light might have a few sword swinging women in period appropriate armor. Look through the adventuring packs, and you might find one or two, but you'll have to buy the whole pack. Not sure if that's a deal breaker.

Warren, Splintered Light was worth a look but the closest figure was the woman with the Skraelings but she'd need a sword rather than a knife and, ideally, a soft hat with a feather.  And having to buy a pack would not necessarily be a deal breaker if it is the right figure(s).  Otherwise,  most of their female figures have too strong an earlier middle ages vibe to them.  Thanks for the idea; still looking.

Boy, ETSY does NOT like 15mm, do they?

How about this from Pico Armor?
https://picoarmor.com/product/ahayaa-tarhsis-2-pcs/

It's a bit sci-fi, but might work in a pinch.

The Demonworld Ice Witches have a lot of blade dancers in 15mm, but their dress is mostly...uh, not.

With a weapon swap and some brighter colors one of Rebel Mini's Sahadeen War Maidens could work, too.  Hate to say it, but it looks like you're going to have to kitbash something.

Hmm, this is a job that will likely require conversion work and calls for the trusty tiny curved XActo blade #212.  I've had to do this in lots of genres and sizes since fighting females are generally in pretty scarce supply.

Doesn't usually take a lot of work.  Carve in a bit of a waistline all around, which then provides a not overly-busty form and a bit of hips.  Slim down the shoulder blades and slope the shoulders a bit.  Depending on the sculpt, a shave and/or a bit of a jawline reshaping may be in order.  trip to the green putty hair salon for extensions if desired.

Any Three Musketeers type figures should be suitable for re-working.

if it's 3D printed you're looking for, contact the seller and ask if they can reduce it down for you...

Speaking from experience, this is a very risky proposition. Few sellers who don't already list fifteens are interested in scaling down prints and those who are willing tend to over promise and under deliver.

The fact that most of the heroic scale swashbuckling gals have spindly bits that don't lend themselves to downscaling doesn't inspire confidence, either.

And they want to charge 28 mm prices for 15 mm figures!  I don't mind extra for the extra effort but that goes a bit too far.  Though I do recall paying $1 per figure for a figure or three back when most 15 mm figures were 60 cents and less in US pricing.  I guess if we want it bad enough we pony up - or commission someone to sculpt it for us but that's seriously more money (I know, I've done it).

Also, while cleavage is fine, I don't want bikini clad figures, I want women that look like they fit the period, more "Dumas" than history so 'sex and violence' on every page, yes, but out in public, not in private or 'in a brothel' sorts which means reasonable attire.  Probably makes the search even harder.

The abridged versions without the encyclopedic descriptions of the era of his writing have either sex, violence, or both, on pretty much every page - at least the ones I've read.
