Hi @Battle Brush Sigur, what gaming mat are you using in the photos from earlier this year?

I might be inheriting a bunch of buildings and this mat looks more suitable than my remote village mat for all the new buildings coming in.

Thanks!

Cheers! Yeah, it's pretty much my default mat for most things I can't find anything more suitable for. :) It's a Cigar Box Battle Mat I got from North Star back when the world was spinning forward rather than backwards and that sorta stuff was possible. Magnificent battle mats with a felt texture and I love the '6' by 4' plus' size (actually more like 6.5 by 5ft).

Within the EU I suggest Deep Cut. They do good stuff as well, but don't do felt.

yes, that mat always looks great in your AAR posts. Particularly when you put 'stuff' underneath to give relief and verticality (gentle) to the landscape.
Material is great for that, and such an improvement on most set-ups you see around.

*had to edit that: note to self, do not attempt to type AAR with a plural 's' .

Thank you! Yeah, the terrain mat is indeed mighty. That's also why I don't get why people get neoprene/mousepad or PVC mats - they're too stiff to meaningfully put stuff underneath, right? So it's always cloth for me. It's still sturdy enough as not to get ruined. In fact - don't the mousepad get a bit crummy with time? At least my mousepad does.

absolutely - and the mousepad stuff doesn't print that sharply either ime.

but shops tend to stock either neoprene or ... pvc (shiny, horrible) ...  lol

oddy enough I'm kind of deciding that the lesser evil (for my circumstances and aspirations) are the thick board GW pieces - a range of environments with good detail, and can look surprisingly effective in the right light.
Flat as a very flat thing of course...
