Good question actually. If be happy for them to go in Fantasy Sports, as they'd be less likely to be 'lost' in the main fantasy board, but I'm not precious about it.

Are the Half-Tilt posts in 'Sports'? Are there any posts?

It tends to be mostly iterations of fantasy football games. To.be fair, that was the main reason for the child board, as posts were getting split between Other Adventures and Fantasy.

I really don't mind where the posts go for jousting games!

This is both crazy and obvious in retrospect, like after hours pallet jack racing.

I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of the rules at Salute yesterday. First impressions, it's really not quite what I was expecting. Not had a chance to play it yet, so this is just from flicking through the rulebook.

- First off, it's not really a jousting game, as you'd first think of it. Half Tilt is more like traditional jousting, with two halflings (or whatever) either side of a tilt. Hairfoot has two teams of 3 running round an arena trying to unseat each other. So it's more of a general combat game than 'true' jousting. Not saying that's a bod thing, it's actually nice that the two games are very different styles.
- The rules are very simple, but so are the rules for Half Tilt, in very different ways.
- The specific mounts for your halflings are largely irrelevant. There are 6 listed in the book and each corresponds to a specific trait, but which one you use for each rider is down to a random roll. So you're probably better just rolling for a trait and using whichever model you like.
- Movement is semi-random. You rotate your rider to face whichever way you want to go, then the mount moves using a Gaslands-style template, randomly selected.
- Because of the movement rules, models should be mounted on 60mm round bases. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of friends with laser-cutters, so I plan on getting them to make me some sabot-style bases for my existing models. I'll do the same with the Northstar minis as and when I get around to buying some, so that I have the option to use them for other games too.
- For the goblin lovers, there is a whole second set of rules included called Wartnose Jousting, based on goblins galloping around on various critters. The rules are basically identical, apart from the arenas/scenarios and a few details. They should be fully compatible so you can have halflings vs goblins.

At the time of writing, Osprey haven't made the relevant downloads available yet (the movement templates and the team sheets). Presumably because the game isn't out until next month. But that gives me time to build an arena.

North Star's pre-orders for the game and the figures begins tomorrow.

(there's no Goblins in the link yet, because they've not been 'officially' announced yet. Drop by tomorrow afternoon and they'll be there.)

OK, this looks fun, and the goblin alternates are a fun bonus.

I suspect I'm in.

This looks like a lot of fun.

A quick question ... what size are the figures?  60mm bases is quite big, so are the minis big too?

They are mounted.  I suspect that accounts for some of it.

As long as they have nipper sticks.

Exact arena size isn't terribly important, but a circle 75cm in diameter is suggested.

Sorry for not responding sooner. Turns out that the other thing I picked up at Salute was a nasty dose of con crud and it's kinda knocked me for six.

Joe's mentioned the 75cm round pitch, but some of the scenarios call for an oval, 75cmx90cm. So two big scenery projects in one. There's also a lot of specific scenery pieces for the different scenarios (walls/fences/obstacles, bells, spike pits, a pair of stone gateways, bonfires, clockwork knights, big mechanical arms, a massive gong and an equally massive carnivorous plant). It'll be a proper job getting ready for all of it, but it should be fun.

Two semicircles, halves of a 75cm round pitch, with a 15cm x 75cm strip to go in the middle would seem to be in order.

Interesting project - I have this image of a rustic 'fairground' style arena with big stakes in the ground and thick ropes strung between them!
