Hi all,
Quick post of a game I ran with my kids at Hammerhead this year.
It was a mildly modified version of Sellswords and Spellslingers.
The monsters have stolen the halloween sweets - it's up to the heros to get them back!
Defeating monsters in the game was rewarded with real-life sweets (an idea I lifted off a halloween game someone posted years ago, possibly even on LAF)

I believe we had five play-throughs on the day. The show seemed a little quieter than usual - or maybe people just didn't make it round to where we were!
Only one game ended in a defeat for the heroes, the rest were wins although at least one was pretty close and only worked out as we modified the rules on-the-fly to allow one of the heroes to use the cure spell to completely resurrect fallen comrades (admittedly on a difficult roll).
We modified the cards for events and monsters by way of my daughter doing the artwork, and I used an online tool to re-create, re-word, and adjust the cards.
The main mechanic was that one of four bosses (and one recurring mini-boss) would spawn when the corresponding event was drawn, and a victory could be achieved by defeating just one of the bosses. That was 'short mode' - my son wanted to play 'long mode' i.e. defeat all four bosses - but we'd have been there all day

I also underestimated just how tough the boss creatures are in SS&SS. Four on the board at once was a bit much - it's a good thing the spawn points were quite a way apart.
If we run it again I think we'll add a bit more 'choice' to the game in terms of interaction with the game. Also perhaps replace the game mat with an actual board.
Pictures will hopefully attach.
