Stupid Question - why Xenos Rampant as opposed to any of the other "Rampants"?
Are there useful mechanics for "modern times"?
There are a literal ton of possible upgrades to customize your units. More than the other books, especially when you toss in all the "Xenos" (alien) abilities to add to units. For example, in our recent XR! game, the GM gave "Special Insertion" to our VC units so they could pop up via tunnels and spider holes.
Another difference is harassing fire has the potential to have an effect. In most of the other Rampant games, you take a morale (Courage) check when you lose a figure. In XR!, you take one whenever you take a hit. So, let's say you have an Armor 2, normally you lose figures in multiples of two. One hit would have no effect in the other sets, I believe. However, 1 hit (but no figure removal) would cause a Courage check in XR!
