Hetzer (15mm)
« on: 29 March 2025, 11:26:33 PM »
Continuing with my plan of painting all the stuff I printed ages ago and then forgot about -- this time it's a 15mm (1:100) Hetzer, or to be pedantic, a PzJg38(t).

I don't recall who designed the 3d model originally, nor how much fiddling around with it I did. There's an error with the track guides, which should be running either side of the road wheels and not down the centre of the track links, as they are here -- I think that's probably my mistake.

I quite like the Hetzer. It's a very compact little bug-like thing. Apparently the ergonomics and survivability of the thing were appalling though, so I'm glad I never had to fight in one.

It's a neat little thing! I vaguely remember the Hetzer being a real Quick Battle MVP in the old Combat Mission PC games for it's low point and the sloped armour being possibly a bit too good.

Nice paint job. If you could "guess" (I say this in that way, since there's the dry time, etc) the time you took going from start to end, so: 1) off sprue 2) build 3) paint (etc.) to 4) finished? I am trying to gauge my work these days (my Team Yankee 15mm tanks run me about 2 hours start to finish, per model... it is very handy that Battlefront has a single sprue [usually] for a specified model).

That is a lovely deepness to the colours on this model, especially the camo colours.

It took about 3.5 hours to print, maybe quarter of an hour to clean up and cure. Roughly a couple of hours for the painting, though that stretches out because it's a stop-start affair. I very seldom do production-line painting, so I don't really know how that would affect things.
