Homebrew Rogue Trader rulebook
« on: 31 March 2025, 11:08:33 AM »
Another interesting find 8)

On a sales platform I came across this curiosity. It's a homemade Rogue Trader 'codex' for Sisters of Battle with pretty good production values. Some of the photoshopped images (such as the cover) are obviously doctored, with the art styles of the components not matching up, but this was clearly a work of love and overall it does look convincing.

I have been planning for years to do something similar one day for my DIY Space Marine chapter (Fiery Lions), based on the 3rd ed Space Wolf codex, but apart from rewriting several pages and commissioning the cover art from a friend of mine, it's not come very far yet.

But the above book might just be the prod I need :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I have no idea. I have the feeling this is a one-off and the seller is asking ?135,- for it, so as a fun curiosity it's too dear for me. But just for fun, I will contact the seller to ask about the book.

It occurs to me that if you go through the effort of having made/make something like this, you'd be wont to sell it off like that, so probably the seller is not the maker/commissioner. Let's see what info I can get out of them :)

So putting my keyboard where my mouth is, I sent the seller a bunch of questions:

Quote
Hi there,

This looks to be quite a unique item. Can you please tell me a bit more about it? Did you create it? How many copies were printed? How many pages does the book have? Are the contents all original, or are there passages that were copied from original publications?

Also; what software did you use, and what printing service?

And they courteously replied back:

Thank you for your interest in this book, and I really appreciate your positive feedback! Of course, you can ask questions. This is indeed a creation of mine—it has 44 pages, and as of now, only four copies exist: one for me, one for a friend, and one that has already been sold.

All the content consists of the original rules for the Imperial Guard from Rogue Trader, plus vehicle annexes that you can use with the Adepta Sororitas. There are no “house rules,” which means you can bring your army list and rules to play against any Rogue Trader (V1) player.

I’ve added illustrations, colorized them, and modified the miniatures to represent Adepta Sororitas forces. I spent weeks working on this and used many tools to achieve this result.

I’m not sure if the price is right—it might be too expensive. What do you think? What would be a fair price in your opinion? Printing and shipping costs were quite high, and production took two months.

Do you also play with this army?

I'm still exchanging messages with them, because like I stated: I'm still planning on doing something akin to this and I'd like to pick his brain a bit more ;)
