Project Eldar… Rangers and more Warp Spiders , p.7
« on: April 13, 2025, 03:16:20 AM »
So I started re-collecting Eldar when they came out a month (?) maybe two ago. First pic is the acquisition stack. Second pic is a spare Eldrad I had, and testing of paint scheme for a take on Craftworld Iybraesil.

Urk!  :o  The new Eldar are beautiful - shame my long term opponent seems to have given up on his Eldar army as my Squats thoroughly enjoyed whupping them!

What are your plans? (Bar building a bunker from the boxes  lol ). Any particular favourite colour scheme? Are they for use in current 40k and/or something else? Anything missing still on the wishlist?

I had someone accuse me of taking a photo of the back of a GW stock room lol.

I’m missing HOWLING BANSHEES. Had them in my cart - they sold out by the time I clicked through. Grrrrr.

There’s an old Craftworld Iybraesil that is grey-turquoise-magenta sort of. I like that idea. I used to have Biel Tan in 2nd edition, and wanted to do something brighter?

All the models are current. The Eldrad was given to me by the dude I’m doing the Necrons for, it had a broken staff. Fixed it, figured it would make a good test model to slap some paint on.

Holy moly, that's a lot of stuff. :D Very cool. Eldar are always pretty, and GW are rather smart about not changing them from the timelessly cool (almost) initial designs.

I’ve been in GW stock rooms and they are never that well stocked or tidy! lol I like the colour scheme, very fitting. In all my years of 40k I’ve never struggled to find an Eldar opponent, 2 of 5 of my childhood gaming friends had them so I stuck to the stunty path! The new models are excellent - easily some of the best GW has done - and I agree with Sigur that we’re lucky GW hasn’t ruined (imo) the recent iterations with overly crowded digital design like many or the others (more is less GW!).

Looking forwards to seeing what you do with them.

Please tell me that was acquired over time, and you just started adding more again, and not the moment after you sold a kidney. That's a lot of Eldar.

This was all acquired since the new codex came out, so … a few months? of buying? This is what my Necrons commission paid for!  :D

Agree that the aesthetic has been maintained, and that the Eldar will always look “classic”. Very much the reason I took to them again. I had an Orks army but sold it in December last year (I played it once…).

Now that I have done the majority of the Necrons army, I have a new group that I can play with. Where I live there isn’t much for gaming apart from 40k, so I’ll just join them and have fun!

Finished the spare Eldrad, in what will be my Craftworld Iybraesil colour scheme. Practiced on a few things like gems and fast non metallic metals. Base will be not this when I paint the army, so I left it black and with the ruins under foot.

Just awesome. Those colours scream Eldar to me. What’s next on the painting list?
