2mm TYW
« on: April 19, 2025, 08:13:36 PM »
Hello all,
I found myself recently interested in gaming the TYW  and was looking at warlords epic pike and shot. Then I came across these 2mm stl files online. I had a blast painting them, so quick to get tabletop ready

Since this is going to be a solo endeavor,  I was looking at modifying Pikemans Lament. But I was wondering how For King and Parliament plays. Is it generic enough for TYW or is it too ECW focused?

In  FK&P you just use single units with no figure removal so using your 2mm blocks would work fine. However I think TYW has different formations and some different troop types than you find in the ECW so it might not work that well as it is quite "ECW focussed" in that regard.

I do know that someone wrote an "Eastern Europe" set of rule modifications, maybe there was something similar for TYW?

Cool. Teeny tiny battalia!

I think FKaP would be a better starting point considering the scale of the units you are representing. Yes it will need a bit of work to incorporate 30YW units, but I think a lot less than trying to make PL work with whole regiments.

Adaros, there is a TTS/FK&P forum which you can find. This was a question posed there last year, and the various answers seemed to be that the rules work fine for the later TYW as the unit organisations are very similar, more problematic for the pre-Nordlingen era when armies were organised much differently. If you pm me your e-nail I can scan and send you the "Eastern Front" rule mods which I  have now found. The forum is a mine of useful information and debate but whenever I try to use it I get flooded with very annoying adverts!

I used Irregular Miniatures 2mm blocks to create TYW era units - this range is now available here - https://irregular2mm6mm.onlineweb.shop/ . i used individual blocks to build up bigger individual units.

We use the Twilight of Divine Right rules and numerous scenario books to do the TYW and that era, i.e. the ECW and Eastern battles - https://www.wyrehistoricbooks.co.uk/home

Hwiccee, those are great blocks. I initially wondered if I was creating too small of a base. While I like my set up, perhaps I'm not taking full advantage of 2mm. Yours are pretty good inspiration. I'll look into Twilight of Divine Rights.

SJWi, thank you again for the mod. I enjoy To the Strongest! So this should work.

Adaros, digging these rules out for you may have inspired me to revitalise a long dormant wish to game the Swedish-Polish-Russian wars of the mid 17th century.  6mm may be the way to go for this project.
