Rules for a Vietnam skirmish in 28mm?

I think I could do a skirmish wargame in Vietnam.

I've got some unpainted 28mm Vietnam grunts left over from a project I started and abandoned years ago, about 40 figures plus some weapons teams. I've also got an M-113 and an M-48 for some reason. I've got some WWII Pacific huts I could easily repurpose for terrain. And finding and painting some VC or PAVN wouldn't be too hard for a skirmish.

The figures from Gringo40s look nice if I decide to take it further, and I could probably pick up some vehicles from Rubicon if I get serious.

But - what rules would you recommend I use?

Came across a ruleset called Down Range. Which is intended for modern warfare and is also fairly intuitive and straightforward.

Haven't sat down and read all of the rules yet, and it uses the occasional marker but you know, it seems pretty good.

I'm doing a vietnam skirmish project in 15mm mainly for Warwick Kinrade's Nam'68 ruleset. While I was already positively dispositioned towards his style of rules (I'm a big Battlegroup fan, easily the system I've had most games in), the way that ruleset does assymetric warfare made me go for it. I have only read the rules so far, not played it, but I recommend CaptainJim's vietnam thread on this forum for quite a couple of thrilling AAR's for that system to get a feel on how it plays out.

We are indeed playing a Vietnam campaign using Nam '68 Tour of Duty.  Our 5th monthly game is set for this coming Friday.  See my thread for details...

As for rules, there are several serviceable sets out there.  Way back when, I did 20mm Vietnam games using Charlie Company and Force on Force.  More recently, in 28mm, we've used The Nam (by Wayne Bollands), Fistful of Lead: Bigger Battles, Bohica, and, now Nam '68.  All have their strengths and were fun to play.  And, all can be played in 15mm, 20mm, or 28mm, pretty much straight out of the proverbial box...

I've not played Flames of War's Vietnam game, though (although I do own it).
