Last Days Seasons Campaign (a sort of AAR)
« on: June 03, 2025, 12:29:16 AM »
Played two games in our brand new Last Days Seasons (Osprey) campaign. The campaign will span one year with 3 games per season and 12 games in total.

In this ruleset, besides managing your injured and your Refuge duties, you also face Mother Nature. You have to feed and water your group, making sure they don't get sick etc.

My opponent and I started in the spring, in March. In the first game I suffered an embarrassing defeat: my leader failed to hit his, despite laying down a hail of lead. In return, his leader fired one shot with his pistol and took mine out! My group got very shaken at that point and tactically withdrew, leaving his group free to take all the goodies... luckily, all injured recuperated without incident and all members were fed.

Having enough time, we played a second scenario on the same board. This time around my group had found a stranger. We managed to free him and put up a hard fight against the other group. Failing to take an enemy out, wounded and facing two enemies, my farmer decided to leg it while he was still standing. My tenacity paid off. Their leader and one more of their members down had them running for the hills with my still standing members left to grab the loot.

Post game all injured people recovered, his leader was galvanised by the experience! Again, all members both sides were fed and I gained a Survivor.

Two tense and exciting games played in one evening, so maybe our campaign won't take until Christmas to play through lol.
The most important thing in the hobby is that you're having FUN! Doesn't matter if you win or lose.

That looks great! I’m aiming to do something similar, but my project has been a slow burn. Doesn’t help that I get distracted!

Don't we all suffer from "oh, shiny!"  lol

It's a nice ruleset, you can play head-to-head, cooperative and solo. The separate Shooting and CQC phases took a little getting used to, but works very well.

With the Seasons book, the game really gives you a lot. Personally, I like this added layer of tending to your group and refuge post game. Having to feed them, have enough water, not letting people get sick etc. It definitely adds to the story playing out.

We might even join forces against the Undead next game, once per season, you can play a coop scenario. There might be an abundance of loot/ resources so there's little need to fight over it. I am recommended to have 30-40 zombies available for cooperative scenarios so it might be a very dangerous mission nevertheless...

ADD: we made a slight rule change because I really didn't like it the way it was written. You are allowed to assign people to Gather Resources (Food/ Water/ Fuel) one at a time and generate their contribution. If it's not enough for your needs, you can assign another one and continue generating until you're out of workers or happy with the result.

If all goes according to plan, next game could be happening June 23.

This looks great and the rules sound intriguing,  but I must resist.

I'm just starting a new campaign of County Road Z and don't need another Zombie ruleset.

Yet.
