Siege engine castle tank - painted
« on: 12 June 2025, 09:40:17 AM »
I finally slapped some paint on one of my little fantasy castle tanks. Tried to do something different this time and used Artis opus brushes to stippled and drybrush it rather than my usual chipping medium hackjob.

I wanted it to feel oldschool, but grimy. That's another model painted for the convention display stand - only 100 more to go...

That seems to be the common consensus on Instagram aswell. I love mortal engines - If I thought I could get the rights I would absolutely love to do a miniature traction city game based on the books.

Thankyou! The checkers are actually sculpted on as tiles armouring the front of the tank, so painting them up is nice and easy.

Probably about 10 years ago I swopped some emails about wargaming with Phillip Reeve, who was playing warhammer with his son at that point.
Might be worth a conversation...

It looks great!
It reminds me of a vehicle out of the Metal Slug series of games.

I sent an enquiring email a couple of years ago and was told all the rights are held by the movie studio, At which point I stopped working on the proof of concept game and miniatures I was working on as I knew the rights would be beyond anything I could risk taking on. Although I don't know if that's still the case now that a new book has come out in the mortal engines universe...
