Sculpting WiP - 28mm Macedonian Hypaspists

Just wanted to share an update of some new 28mm Macedonian Hypaspists I’ve been working on.

These are still a WIP but they aren’t so far off of being finished. You can see the direction I’m going in with them all by the look of the second guy on the left, even though he still needs some work doing to him.

I’ve decided to go for standing feathers in their helmets rather than plumes because you don’t see them as often and there are some great reference pics online too!

I’m planning on posting updates on this thread  relatively regularly with my all my sculpting, partially to keep track of everything that I work on over time, as well as to receive your thoughts as well as other ideas/references or anything else that could be useful in sculpting more minis!

Nice, and going for feathers should allow more variety in a pike block (if they match in with other manufacturers)

Thanks! They will definitely work well with other manufacturers that produce the same ranges. More variety is always better right?!

Also, the Macedonian Hypaspists are now finished!

These will be going into moulds this week and, all being well, will be available on the website next week!

I’ve also finished the first Macedonian Companion. I’ll probably use this one as an officer, but now you all know what else is in the schedule for releases! 😁

Here’s a quick preview of the new minis that will be added to the website later on today!
We’ve got:

4 x Macedonian Hypaspists, the elite of both Philip and Alexander’s armies

1 x Phalangite, the common warrior (taking the current miniature choices up to four!)

1 x Companion Cavalry Officer, a feared member of the cavalry elite of the Macedonians, a general should never leave home without them!

More on the way very soon!

Have been busy working on getting a unit of 20 Hypaspists finished up.

These were originally going to be part of my own personal army but I have been commissioned to do a larger Macedonian force and these Hypaspists were part of it so I’ve decided to let go of them.
