Hero Quest Chaos

Painted up some of these old Beauties for Hero Quest and Old World games. Also a somewhat-themed pumpkin-headed warrior from Reaper that to me fits well!

Nice job! The sorcerer gives me a “Skeletor” vibe.

Thanks for the kind words all!

Honestly I really used to hate the Hero Quest figures... That Chaos sorcerer used to look ridiculous to my eyes, as like Pattus pointed out it looks like a goofy Skeletor with such huge hands and a huge face!

But now when I see them, they look so much more pleasing than the insanely detailed modern figs, or even the late-90s - 2000s figures. So, so much character and history in those old figs, and just the right amount of detail so that I can paint a boot and a leg without having to pain a million little details along the way!

What do you all think of them?

I think they look excellent, but that’s true of everything in this thread!

I agree about the appeal of painting less detailed figures. I don’t have much personal experience with the HeroQuest figures or old Battle Masters figures, but the relatively clean design is one of the things I enjoy about Copplestone sculpts. They have crisp lines and the details they have make it clear what each figure is, and they often have a lot of character BUT there are few extraneous details. It seems like these are similar.

In any case, I’ll enjoy seeing each new addition to the collection!
