At Salute this year I got myself a Barons War 2nd edition starter box and, as I can't start small, some boxes of knights and sergesants on horseback.
I started with the red retinue as proposed in the starter rulebook.
Here are my levy of the red retinue:

They look great. The M&B2:Butterlord player in me just wants to trample them with my cavalry :D so they’re doing something right! Maybe I should investigate the boxed set….

So they give a few example retinues that you can build with the included miniatures? That’s very sensible. Did the rules change much in 2nd Ed? I bought the first (cheap) and have flicked through them (excellent size made it easy to read on the go) they looked quite straightforward. Is the separate campaign book nerfed now with 2nd?

What does the list include in total? Thanks

Andrew

Looks great! Love the varied but muted colours, much more interesting than the smorgasbord of browns you usually see, while still suitably dour for some simple levies. Looking forward to seeing the knights and sergeants!

Yes there are two levys in the boxed set. They call them red and blue. They both consist of levys, bowmen, sergeants and foot knights. Both are differently armed and armord.
I can't tell differences between 1st and 2nd edition as I only have the 2nd one.

Next up will be bowmen for the red retinue

Great stuff! I do like the archers - the poses are really quite good (miniature companies often seem to think the only pose is full draw about to release) I’ve not been a fan of WA minis (but honestly haven’t looked at any for a good while) and these (and the traitors toll chaps) are starting to change my mind. Getting more and more tempted by the box set  :D

I think that the WA minis are quite nice to paint. I have some victrix knights on order. We will see how they compare.

Next up are some sergeants.

Here are the knights of my red retinue. The last one is my Baron. The heraldry is taken from my home town and villages next to it.
The Baron is Johann II von Ahaus he died at the battle of Liegnitz in 1241. The battle of Liegnitz was fought between a mongol army and a german / polish army. The mongols won the battle.

Sorry but I can't upload any pictures!? What is the reason for this?

Perhaps the pictures are too big? Recall that the maximum total size is 4000KB, maximum individual size 3000KB.
