In this short narrated video, General Weissman tells the story of the first engagement...

Myself and Gibby played our first game today as part of our narrative driven 'Metal Sun' campaign, following the story of Reinhardt Weissman's 7th Altdorf Expeditionary Force that is sent into the Border Princes, on the request of The Duke of Akendorf...

Excellent game it was, too! Nice small fight to get to grips with Warhammer Renaissance. Excellent work on the video and brilliant use of the Myth TFL soundtrack!

On my watch list for tomorrow. Just from the few pics - I like your painting style (reminds me of LAF’s Padrissmus, apologies if I got the name wrong, and their Tilean adventures) excellent use of black lining with some nice bright colours (at least some people steer away from Blanditsu  lol ) gives a very clean, appealing look that must shine on the tabletop.

Thank you very much! I've got to say, me and Gibby were in awe of how pretty out little toy soldiers are when on the pitch... I originally started collecting with no intention of playing, just painting and writing stories but pleased to say we're now a gaming duo who both equally revel in the narrative play style!

The first time my favourite opponent and I played a game where we had proper scenery and two fully painted forces was sublime. The aesthetic of that little battlefield (even more than the fun of the actual game) was a massive boost to my productivity and drive. I’ve struggled to get a game to the table more recently (boring reasons) and need to find a way to recapture that inspiration as my hobby hasn’t so much stalled as stalled, crashed, sat around for years in the harsh environment rusting then been recovered and put into a museum that doesn’t get visitors  lol

I enjoyed your video (apologies, if I’d seen it was only two minutes I would have watched it there and then) and agree that your forces look great deployed. Love the fact the goblin fanatics just wiped themselves out. Keep up the great work, looking forwards to seeing what you do next.

Cheers! Nothing better than seeing the figures on the battlefield, that's for sure

I usually don't watch video battle reports a lot, but this is pretty darned brilliant. Extra points for excellent fanatics and Stone trolls! :D Also, that's a lovely Empire force. What do you use for the Reiksguard, and where did you get the flags from?

The painting looks lovely, pictures are bright and clear (something I struggle with a LOT on my gaming table), and the way you kept the battle report so to the point and yet filled it with this narrative backstory is remarkable. Oh, what did you use for the battle overview/map there? It all looks very well done. Hope to see more of your adventures with Warhammer Renaissance!

An excellent video. I hope your campaign goes well, and cannot wait to see more. But, please do allow Gibby the time to send me his orders for Vizconde Gismondo Giacometti in the Tilean campaign!

Gibby recently gave me his large campaign army indeed to look after for him, and gifted a bunch of unpainted stuff too (some of which I was working on earlier this eve). He didn't tell me (and I had failed to notice) he had all this other stuff too. I should have worked it out, 'cos he must have been running out of storage space! Or, he did tell me all about it and my memory is just crap!

Keep on Warhammering!

That's really very kind, thank you.

The Reiksguard are a kitbash of War of the Roses Perry Miniatures and Warlord Games Landknecht Parts, shields are 6th Edition Knights. There is also quite a bit of subtle sculpting on these, including the helmet wreathes and posing of the arms. I actually create the flags myself digitally, based on references from the Heraldry and Uniforms of the Empire book.

Yeah, painting them bright has been an interesting challenge and I used quite a few old White Dwarf resources to get ideas for it.

The map was designed in photoshop, I have to confess - I was a video editor professionally for seven years, as well as doing the odd bits of design!

And there certainly will be more, it's the narrative that myself and Gibby are so enthralled by!

Thank you, that means a lot coming from you as you're so committed to your campaign and it's story! It's been very enjoyable and we've only just got started... I'm glad you've publicly shamed him, that may spur him into action...

And yes he did mention all that! The Crimson Legion (?) are a particular stand out that I very much liked the look of... as for storage space, I should be helping him board his loft soon. So that's a great excuse to buy even more plastic and metal.
